Deep clean vs regular clean: what's actually different?
When to book a deep clean, when a regular weekly is enough, and what to expect from each.
Regular cleaning keeps your home fresh week to week. Deep cleaning resets the parts that the regular clean doesn't get to. They're not interchangeable, and you usually need both, just at different cadences.
Regular cleaning covers
- Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming all rooms.
- Bathroom surfaces, mirrors and toilets.
- Kitchen counters, sink and surface dust on appliances.
- Bed-making and a quick tidy.
Deep cleaning adds
- Inside the oven, fridge and microwave.
- Descaling kitchen and bathroom fixtures.
- Window tracks, skirting boards, ceiling corners and fans.
- Detailed bathroom scrub: grout, glass, tile.
How often should I deep clean?
For a typical 3-bedroom HDB or condo with regular weekly upkeep, a deep clean once or twice a year is enough. If you're moving in, moving out, or just finished renovation, do one before you move your things in.
